The Fuchsia Gum is a smaller eucalyptus typically growing between 2m and 5m in height with a dense canopy growing to roughly half the hieght in width.
Smooth grey bark contrasts well against the dark green leaves that can grow to be 10cm long and 6cm wide.
The red buds provide another colour to this gum before the yellow flowers appear in the first half of the year.
Sir John Forrest, the first premier of Western Australia, has the honours for selecting the botanical name of Eucalyptus forrestiana.
This gum is usually found along the south coast of Western Australia along the salt lakes close Cape Arid.
