The pricklybark, or coastal blackbutt, is normally found on the west coast of Australia and can grow upwards of 15 meters in height.
This native has rough, flaky bark on its trunk but as you get further up the tree or on the branches, the bark is more smooth and grey in colour.
Flower buds form in groups and the white flowers appear in the first few months of the year.
A botanical artist, Emil Todt, is honoured with the naming of this species.
