The Rock Sheoak is native to Western Australia and gets it name from being found in rocky areas.

It can grow up to 10 metres in height and the foliage is typically sparse, which shows more of the rough dark coloured bark.

Ludwig Preiss, a German-born British botanist, first collected this tree near York in 1840.
