The Swamp Banksia is a smaller tree not normally growing over 10 metres in height, and found natively in the south west areas of Western Australia, normally close to a water or the coast.
The bark is rough and the foliage is thick, with the green leaves having their underside a more white colour.
Through the colder months is when the flowers appear and these are an orange or yellow coloured cone, which can resemble a cob of corn.
This tree responds well to natures elements, such as fire and flood, due to epicormic buds and re-growth is quick.
