Eucalyptus patens can grow between 10 to 45 metres tall with a width of up to 8 metres wide. It likes full sun with a soil preference of sandy soils, clay loam and gravelly soils. It is drought tolerant once established has a moderate tolerance to frost.
Flowering season is July to February. But will grow to a smaller poor form particularly in swampy sites. The Eucalyptus patens prefers soils which are moist, but not waterlogged with a well-developed clay subsoil.
The Eucalyptus patens can be found growing naturally from the south of Perth to Cape Leeuwin and east of Albany.
